Join the Corporate Challenge
Every year a group of passionate cyclists come together to promote Bike to Work Week as a part of Indiana Bicycle Month. Our goal is to promote bicycle commuting as a viable mode of transportation in Michiana and for all to consider the benefits: a more active lifestyle, less traffic congestion, and a healthier community. We want to encourage individuals to leave their cars at home for the week and ride their bikes to work. It is open to all Michiana employers regardless of size. The Michiana Bike to Work Week Corporate Challenge is free!
Employer teams can register on this website (see the link at the bottom of the page). Miles that are ridden to and from work for each team member will be tracked and averaged for each team. Below is a table that provides 3 examples of how miles will be calculated for the Corporate Challenge.
|# of Riders||Total Miles Ridden||Average Miles per Rider|
|10 riders||550 miles||55 miles per rider|
|20 riders||1000 miles||50 miles per rider|
|5 riders||100 miles||20 miles per rider|
The Corporate Challenge will calculate miles ridden to and from work, or while at work (e.g., running errands, going to lunch, or places that you would have driven had you taken your car to work, or even miles traveled using mass transit). The dates of the challenge are from 12:00 a.m. Monday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The system will allow you to enter miles until 11:59 p.m. Monday, so those that don't have a chance to keep their mileage up to date can have the weekend to enter the miles they have ridden.
Note: If you participated last year, you will need to create a new account and/or team this year.
Registration is now open
There is a new feature this year for team registration. You are now able to create subteams in larger organizations. For example, 1st Source Bank was a strong new competitor, with 45 riders logging more than 1,300 miles. However, there was competition between the different 1st Source branches. To help make this type of competition even easier, you will now have the ability to have your team listed under a larger organization. The registration process will walk you through this step-by-step.
No worries for those of us at smaller organizations, we will still be able to register our teams and log miles for the week. The goal this year is to ride over 35,000 miles during the event.
Please review the entire list of teams before creating a new team of subteam. Click here to begin the process of starting or joining a team or subteam.
